#OttSports Roundup: March 2nd Edition

This is a few days belated, but Dante De Caria, with Algonquin College radio station CKDJ 1079 has a weekly radio show/podcast called Around the Diamond where he covers the Ottawa Champions/baseball in Canada each week.

I highly recommend you check it out, as the Ottawa Champions are a hell of a lot of fun to watch, and Dante is the best source of news and insight about the team. You can check out the latest episode from February 26th here, and be sure to give him a follow on Twitter!

Ross A  and Colin 4000 of Silver Seven Sens sum up the Lazar trade quite nicely. The Sens cut bait on a player while he still had trade value (unlike Jared Cowen!) for a good return on a player that never quite proved his worth at the NHL level, at least with the Senators. I still feel that the team rushed him out of Binghamton this year, but, as Ross suggests, the writing was on the wall for Lazar after the team acquired bottom-6 players in Wingels, Burrows, and Stalberg that blocked his pathway back into the lineup.

At least we’ll always have this! Bye bye Curtis, I wish he would have persevered and proven his value in Ottawa next season. But one point in 33 games is really bad, and a 2nd round pick plus a 7th defenseman is quite frankly probably more than Ottawa deserved for Lazar.

Per Don Brennan of the Ottawa CitiSun, Chris DiDomenico officially joined the Senators today after clearing waivers. After playing the last four years in Switzerland, it wouldn’t be a surprise for him to be eased into the lineup. I don’t know what else to say about this.

Ottawa Fury FC are back at training camp at the RA Centre, and with that, we were gifted with another installment of Wednesday with Williams. You can check it out below. I personally find Ryan Williams to be hilarious, and have learned a bit about the players, but more importantly, about the chemistry of the team, in watching his weekly interviews.

For the latest Fury news I’d suggest following Ottawa Fury FC on Twitter, Antony Casimiro of La Revue Gatineau, and the hashtag #FuryFC.

That’s it for now! Check back soon for more updates!
